“Tea Leaves” Tumblr theme

Tumblr is microblogging-based social network where users post different types of media, including text, video, gifs, and photosets. Developers can build custom HTML themes using a templating language. I built custom themes for my blog early on, and I eventually redistributed my favorites for public use. The “Tea Leaves” was one of the most colorful and customizable themes I developed.

Donna Paula Photos

Donna Paula has shot photographs of some of the biggest names in the music industry, including David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, and more. My goal was to build her a photography portfolio that was an inviting gallery of classic rock legends for music lovers and shutterbugs alike.

“What kind of music do you like?”

I am asked “What kind of music do you like?” all too often. It's the kind of question I can never answer to a satisfactory extent, so I decided to create a solution by aesthetically and dynamically presenting my recent music listening history.

Rattlesnake is an interactive stripe generator. I originally created this as a small project to play around with JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3. It eventually turned into a fun and visual distraction.

Research in Chromosome Dynamics

I spent a year and a half investigating the mechanisms involved in chromosome segregation during meiosis. My research projects included characterizing meiotic checkpoint components by indirect immunofluorescence microscopy. I had the opportunity to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of students and scientists to troubleshoot and solve many challenging problems.

Investigating the Human Astrovirus

My research goal was to further the current understanding of the human astrovirus by investigating the secondary structure of its viral capsid protein. Astroviruses are a leading cause of viral gastroenteritis in young children, immunocompromised individuals, and the elderly. Long-term goals also included vaccine research and antiviral treatments.
